The codex in Genoa

When the duc d’Aumale purchased Les Très Riches Heures from its previous owner, the Baron Félix de Margherita, the codex had been in Italy for 300 years. We do not know into whose hands the codex passed after the long period during which it remained at the library of the House of Savoy, but we do know that it had been in the Liguria region for some time, and more precisely in Genoa, given the fact that the binding (probably produced in Italy in the eighteenth century) bears on its covers the coats of arms of the Genoese Serra and Spinola families.
